We are thrilled to invite you to a very special event during the Congressional Black Caucus Annual Legislative Week—the 'Unbought Unbossed' Reception hosted by the Congress of Black Women. This event is a celebration of outstanding leaders who have made significant contributions to our communities and continue to champion justice, equality, and empowerment.

During the reception, we will be presenting awards to several remarkable individuals whose dedication and service have left an indelible mark on our communities:

  • Antoinette V. Scott: American nurse and soldier, the first female District of Columbia resident Purple Heart recipient.

  • Virgie M. Rollins: Chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) Black Caucus, and the first African American woman to Chair the Michigan Democratic Women’s Caucus.

  • United States Congresswoman Barbara Lee: A noted progressive leader and former chair of the Congressional Progressive Caucus and the Congressional Black Caucus.

  • Reta Jo Lewis: President and chair of the Export–Import Bank of the United States.

  • Dawn Staley: Coach of the University of South Carolina Women’s Basketball team.

  • The Honorable Muriel Bowser: Mayor of the District of Columbia.
